Welcome to Bayside's Music Ministry
|
 |
| Music is Worship.
Worship is centered on God as revealed to us in Word and Sacrament. Music
leads us to focus on God by involving our whole person; mind, body, breath
and spirit; in singing sacred texts that enhance our understanding of faith
and scripture. To this end, Bayside's Music Ministry provides opportunities
for all ages, as listed below: |
-
For
Children: "Kids of
the Kingdom" meets on Wednesdays to ring, play Orff instruments, sing,
study the Bible, and do crafts and service projects. This comprehensive
program is for grades K through 5. We gather at 3:45 p.m., and finish at
5:30.
|
-
For
Youth: Youth Handbell
Choir meets Sundays at 4:00 p.m., or as arranged to co-ordinate with
Youth Connections scheduling. For grades 6 through 12, this group plays
in worship, and occasionally accompanies singing groups.
|
-
For
Adults: Wednesdays
at 7:30 p.m. you will find the Bells of Bayside diligently practicing
to ring in worship, in a festival, in a nursing home, or at an outside
activity. New ringers are welcome at any time!

On Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
the Sanctuary Choir prepares to sing anthems in the worship services
every week, with special music for seasons such as Christmas and Easter.
Any interested person from middle school through adults is welcome to participate.
Music reading and vocal skills are taught along with the music. Attendance
at choir rehearsals and services of worship requires commitment and dedication,
and we are grateful to those who choose to give their time to this ministry.

| Music is Education,
Outreach and Art. Through scriptural settings, paraphrases, poetry
and verse, music teaches important theological concepts from an early age.
It illuminates the Biblical story from Genesis to Revelation. It nourishes
and comforts us in times of need, and lifts us in times of celebration.
Music can transcend barriers of race, gender and culture. Music links us
to the past and bridges us to the future. Music has the power to lift us
out of ourselves so that we can receive the grace of God and in turn share
it with others. |

Soli Deo Gloria!
