It is a brand new program and it will bring the Bible to life – Welcome to the ARK! Awesome Rotation Kids is a Bible based curriculum program that brings fun and excitement to children (grades K-5) as they discover stories about God’s work in the world through Scripture. ARK blends the successes of traditional “Church School” programs with the creativity of rotation style formats to create a vibrant, kid-friendly program. The ARK fun begins as children first arrive and they visit the “Lion’s Den” – a “coffee house” for children where children find kid-friendly food, music, video, and fellowship. Following the coffee house children gather in grade specific classrooms. It is in the classrooms that children hear God’s story through Scripture. These classroom lessons are presented in a variety of ways where children are engaged in discovering the story. After learning stories of God’s work in the world children use passports to travel in the “Holy Land”. Here children respond to the hearing of God’s Word via crafts, puppetry, computer interactions, music, and reading. There is even an opportunity to be part of the “WBPC” news team and report on some of the latest news and beliefs from members of the congregation! For each center children visit they must use their passport for entrance and departure, encouraging and ensuring that children visit many of the different opportunities in the Lion’s Den. For each center children visit, they receive points. These points can accumulate each week and then be used in the “Redemption Center”. The “Redemption Center” is where children exchange earned points (from the centers completed each week) for prizes. Prizes have point values attached, and the prizes can range from small candy to pencils, balls, posters, or whatever the imagination defines! The purpose of “Redemption Center” is to affirm and reward children for work well-done at each of the centers children complete in the “ARK Activity Center”. The prizes are to affirm our Christian faith and are to be faith-based. (The Redemption Center will be open the third Sunday each month, from 9:30-9:40 a.m.) ARK concludes when children return to their appropriate classrooms and share what they learned in the ARK Excavation Station. ARK is an active, fun-filled hour where children dive into Scripture and learn about God’s work in the world! Enjoy and celebrate the wonders of God’s work! | |
